I am revamping my record keeping method. I'm talking about a pile of receipts that collect all year, til tax season. I'm missing out on so many deductions it's not funny.

What method works for you?

I would recommend using a program called Ck-Kids. It tracks all of your expenses and at the end of the year you just print the detailed schedule C and you are set. You can track attendance, meals, parent payments, and it tells you what deductions you can take. You might also want to go to www.redleafpress.org and get Tom Copeland's Tax Organizer. It tells ALL deductions you can take.

I use the C-K kids as well .. Tom Copeland goes up to bat for us against the IRS each year - the man knows his stuff!

I do know I do not use the C-K kid program to its fullest Like I should ... Maybe 2008 will be a better year.
I think I missed on some deductions as well ..


Somethings I have learned over the 3 years I have opened is this

Inventory your home ..just take a note book and write down everything that is in each room ... then give it a price.. more like a resale price.

Receipts ..break them down as soon as you get them ... set time aside for this .. (this is my weak spot)

If you are on a food program - they may offer the CK program for signing up .. I got mine through my food program for $10 and they keep the yearly fee up for me!

I am a clutter mess - I need to get organized .. hmm I think I say that every year at this time!
