What supplies will I need to start a daycare?
I think it depends on your licensing.
I would like to hear what toys / supplies everyone purchased or got when they first opened.

Click your state here. You will see on the Right side of the screen a state pull down.
Once your state is up ..find the Resource and Referal for your area.
They maybe able to tell you how to get started and who to contact in your area. They may help with information such as mail outs that you can receive to help you get on the road to opening your own home daycare.

Thank You for the website Deb. but do you have to have some type of licensing in order to start your own home day care? Well maybe the website will answer some of my questions.

I would call your local DCFS office and ask them. It sometimes depends on the number of children you wish to care for.
Some will let you have 3 in your care with no licensing.
My personal opinion is that if you take the extra steps ..it will show.

Well where are you located at ??
there are steps ...
DCFS is the first biggy ..its not as bad as everyone makes it sound ..ya gotta do the following in this order I think
Fill out the paper work from DCFS for you and everyone living in your home
Physical - everyone in the home
TB Test- everyone in the home
Back ground check - everyone in the home
Finger printing done and checked for everyone 18 and over in the house
Once you do the above dcfs will come to your home and inspect it to see the size and if it passes inspection - basically if you have a child proof home and your home is clean and free of rodents and bugs and such then you will pass.
