If someone is to go to an accountant / Tax Person (Not sure of the term) to have their taxes done. Can you tell us what to expect to pay? I would also like to know what we as daycare providers are to look for?
This is part of why I asked. My first year of doing taxes I called a local person "who does all the daycares around here" He informed me that my home business is no different - I read something about this from Tom so I did not go to him. Instead I ordered 2 of Toms Books and asked you a bunch of questions. I also had you look them over before I submitted them.
My friend who opened her daycare about the same as me used this tax guy and had to pay in from her first year of business - the reason was because she did not own her house is what he told her...
I also attended a training offered from a local Resource and Referal and I received one of Tom's books for attending. For those of you who Do not know TOM - get to know him.. Order the books .. read his online info .. his books at tax season will be like...
well it will be part of your life.. there is so much info!

It's hard to tell you what to expect to pay. Accountants are individuals, like Providers. However, you want a pro with DC as a specialty and who personally knows Tom Copeland. Here's why http://nelsonandriley.biz/news.asp?acti ... ategory=22 Because she was not a client, for me to handle the audits cost her about $3000.
The guy doesn't know what he's talking about. When you don't own your house you deduct RENT instead of mortgage interest, prop tax and insurance. That's the only difference. The deductions should be within a couple of dollars of each other. She should have my Firm analyze her past three years of returns. The review is free, as always. Encourage her to call. The phone numbers are right on the start page of the website http://nelsonandriley.biz/default.asp
