Hi,

I am very excited to start this project this week with my girls! We have a "boy free" week since they are all on vacation and I thought this would be a fun activity to start....could take some time and lead us into the fall!

I had never thought of doing this with daycare!! Thanks for the lovely share!

I had actually thought of putting something like this into a flower garden for my daycare .... this maybe something to add ... hmm a fairy garden / fairy house ..............ohhhhhhhh what a about a troll palace? :)
I think boys could totally get into this as well!

I think the boys will get into it too when they return from vacation. I wanted to do a special project with the two girls while the boys were gone. They are the only two girls in our "family", I care for 5 other boys and have two older boys of my own. Thankfully, the girls enjoy baseball, sports, etc. I just wanted to start it special with them, then let the boys join in when they get back :-)

I've ordered the book, it will be here on Tuesday. I'm excited to read it and will let you know what it's like!

We finished our houses yesterday! What a great time. The boys are back and everyone got involved making them. The smaller children paired with the older children and helped collect sticks, stones and everything else. We had a wonderful time. I would recommend it to anyone. We also got a great opportunity to talk about nature and make it a learning activity too. All of the kids have requested that we make them again next week!

I tried to attach pictures, with no luck. Below is the link to look at them! Hope you enjoy!

PS: We did receive the book and read it as a group. It was not as detailed as I hoped, but the story was cute and it gave the kids a place to start. I did google other fairy houses and show the kids pictures so they could picture it before starting the project :)

Thanks for the compliments! The kids were so excited with them that they showed all their parents the minute they arrived...and have made them look at them several times in the days since! I highly recommend the project...even without the book you can google other houses and examples, the kids had a ball!
