Grain Collage

Use corn, wheat, hay, oats, barley, and other grains
that farm animals eat to sort and/or make a collage.

Give each child a pig cut out. Let them glue the different colors of tissue paper on the pig. This creates a unique looking cute pig that has a great texture!

Homemade Butter

When talking about all of the great things that you get from farms.
Make butter just like the farmers do with you class. It is real easy,
just put whipping cream in a jar, then let your kids take turns shaking
it soon the cream will turn into butter. To speed up the process you can
add a marble to the jar. When done have the butter on bread for snack.

Things to do -

Farm Field trip

If you cant get out see if a local farmer can bring in some animals - baby pigs, chicks, ducklings are always fun. Remember to make sure to clear with parents due to allergies and to wash hands after wards.

I live on a farm so many of the visits are done right here at my own home. I no longer have goats . calf's, chicks, ducklings, piglets are a coon site here!

Anyone need pics of farm animals let me know!

Great ideas.
I have used in the past get paper a trace out the pig, chicken, sheep, horse

To color in the pig we used shaving cream and brown paint and when the picture dried it looks like a muddy pig
Image
We used feathers for the chicken( my daughter used some cotton LOL)
Image
For the lamb/sheep we used cotton
Image
For the cow which used grass clipping
Image
The last picture we used straw/hay for a paint brush with any color paint we had.

(trying to remember how they were put together)

We made sugar cookies out of cake mix

one hand size round cookie icing was pink

Eyes were tinny m&m
Nose was a marshmallow sliced and rolled out doting on pink icing and sticking black m& m for the nostrils

Pink wafer cookies cut into small triangles for the ears ..... stick into the icing

small piece of licorice curled on the side stuck in the icing for the tail
