Take a look at the HELP SHEETS. http://nelsonandriley.biz/daycare_help.asp They will clue you in. AND read the articles http://nelsonandriley.biz/news.asp?acti ... ategory=22 They will explain a lot. You can use the help sheets every week, month, quarter, whatever.

I have a Time Space Question -
I am not sure I did this right ..
but on the t/ s do we claim our garage - I do store daycare stuff in the garage ..but when I figured my t/ s I only used the sq foot of the home ... should I be including the garage? also I have a enclosed back porch its about 7x10 I store on it as well. Should I be counting this in my sq footage of use?
Thanks so much!

Don't bother with the garage or back porch. You use 100% of the house on a T/S% basis unless you have a 100% usage room. This article should help. http://nelsonandriley.biz/news.asp?acti ... ategory=22
Yes, you do use all the bedrooms because you frequently have to separate all the children for naps, right? Besides you store toys under all the beds.

I have a what if ....
what if I can not find any bills? ...what if say I threw away my bill stubs?
Can I go through my checks and say like Ameren (electirc) and find from Jan - Dec and use them as what I paid for electricity?
and do the same with my water and telephone etc?
I do this every year I just cant seem to figure out how to save proof of my bills!

Absolutely. Any time you can't find a receipt, go looking for how you paid for it. A cancleled check, credit card slip, atm notation on your bank statement are all proof of payment.

Just look back in your check register. Almost everyone sends checks in to utility companies.

This new tax thing they are talking about on the news.. if you have not filed yet will it come with your refund or is this separate ...and why is it soo darn confusing?
How will this work with people in daycare who look like they did not have a income?

I pay my 5 year old grandchild to help me in the daycare, she picks up toys, brings me diapers, plays with the kids, etc. I know you can deduct what you pay your own kids, but can I deduct what I pay her also? Also, I have my house cleaned weekly, I pay mostly by cash/receipt...is this tax deductible also?
Thank you Shirley for all your help!

It's separate. It's all smoke and mirrors. I was chastised on two other forums this week for not being able to conceal my contempt for the occupier of the White House.
Any "rebate" you get in 2007, is just like the one you got in 2001, you will have to RE-PAY it out of the next year's tax return, like you did in 2002. Remember the advanced child tax credit? It was due to go up to $1000? They gave you $400 per child in advance. On your next year's tax return, instead of getting $1000 per child, you only got the remaining $600 per child because you'd already gotten $400/ per child?
Smoke and mirrors.

The special rules only apply to your children, AFAIK. She can pay up to $599 with no additional paperwork and deduct it, however.

When entering your receipts how do you enter them? do you use what ck has set up or do you make new categorize?
If its not 100% daycare then do we use T/S%?
For example I know I buy toilet paper --- and I know my family probably does not use 50% .. there is 3 of us compared to 12 of them little tushies! ..is that a t/s or is this something I can put 75% next to ??
I always become a nervous wreck over taxes .. I want them to be done correctly and IF I ever have to explain myself I want to sound at least 1/2 intelligent on the facts!
So today am starting to enter my receipts from 2007 ..yea yea just starting ..but thats because I just filed 2006 taxes ... so this year I can not be late I have one going to college and she needs any grants she can get!! So am putting my foot down on myself and starting to work on them NOW!
Thanks for any and all help in advance!
Deborah

Does it have a MEMO space? Put your expenses in the categories they provide and put the fine detail in the memo space. Input ALL expenses @ 100%. When you use T/S% the program does the math. That would be fine except your preparer has to reverse engineer the math to enter it in the tax program, otherwise the percentage is used twice on the same total.
Does this make sense?
